Announcing the Winners of EcoCAR2
The winners of EcoCAR2: Plugging Into the Future, a three-year collegiate engineering competition sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, GM and 30 other government and industry leaders have been announced. The Ohio State University took home top honors with their exceptionally designed 2013 Chevrolet Malibu which achieved 50 miles per gallon gas equivalent (MPGGE), while reducing emissions by 50%, compared to the base vehicle.
The University of Washington took second place with Penn State University placing third. Other teams included:
|Wayne State University||Cal State, Los Angeles||Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University|
|Mississippi State||North Carolina State University||University of Victoria|
|Purdue University||Colorado State||University of Tennessee, Knoxville|
|Virginia Tech||University of Waterloo||Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology|
Each university received a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu and was challenged with the task of reducing the environmental impact without compromising performance, safety and consumer acceptability.
Corporations like Bosch, Siemens, GM and others find EcoCAR2 an ideal place to find their engineers of the future. GM alone has already hired over 100 EcoCAR Students.
